Prohibition Against the Conduct of Research and Survey Activities and Interference with Philippine Research and Survey Activities and Interference with Philippine Research and Survey Activities. - Foreign ships or aircraft, including marine scientific research or survey ships or aircraft, while exercising the right of archipelagic sea lanes passage, shall not conduct oceanographic or hydrographic surveys or any other research or survey activities, whether with the use of detection equipment or sample gathering equipment, unless they have obtained prior permission from the appropriate agency of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines. Foreign ships or aircraft shall not interfere with the survey or marine scientific research activities carried out by the Philippines in the sea lanes or air routes thereabove.
