Declaration of Policy. - It is hereby declared the policy of the State to ensure the protection of its maritime domain and to safeguard the sovereignty of the State and the integrity of the national territory. Towards this end, the State shall adhere to and implement the provisions of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and other relevant conventions to which the Philippines is a party.
Consistent with the national interest, the State likewise reiterates its policy of adopting and pursuing freedom against nuclear weapons in its territories, as enumerated in Article II, Section 8 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution.
