Qualifications of the Director General and Deputy Directors General of the PhilATOM. - The Director General and the Deputy Directors General shall be citizens and residents of the Philippines, persons of good moral character, at least thirty-five (35) years of age, and of recognized probity, independence, and competence, and must have distinguished themselves professionally in public, civic, or academic service in any of the following fields: nuclear science, physical sciences, law, engineering, medical or allied medical sciences in the radiation field, with at least seven (7) years of actual and distinguished experience in their respective fields of expertise, discipline, or profession; Provided, That out of the four (4) Deputy Directors General, at least one (1) shall have a degree in nuclear science or nuclear engineering.
The DG and DDGs or any of their relatives within the fourth civil degree of consanguinity or affinity, legitimate or common law, shall be prohibited from holding any interest whatsoever in any of the regulated entities and must, therefore, divest through sale or legal disposition of any and all interests in the same upon assumption of office.
The DG and DDGs shall enjoy security of tenure and shall not be suspended or removed from office except for just cause as specified by law.
