All elected incumbent barangay official shall remain in office, unless sooner removed for cause, until their successors shall have been elected and qualified.
Designated or appointed incumbent barangay officials shall be subject to a performance audit to determine their fitness to continue in office to be conducted by the Secretary of Local Government may solicit the assistance of other government agencies may organizations.
Vacancies created by resignation or removal of barangay officials shall be filled by incumbent kagawads with due recognition of their succession; provided, however, that in default there, the Secretary of Local Government shall appoint officers-in-charge taking into consideration the integrity, competence and persons shall be appointee: provided, further, that no person shall be appointed as a barangay official unless he is an actual voting resident of the barangay to which he will be appointed.
