Officials of the City of Sorsogon. The first elections for the local elective positions in the City shall be held together with the regular elections in May 2001. As such, the incumbent elected municipal officials of the municipalities of Bacon and Sorsogon shall continue to exercise their powers and functions until the expiration of their terms in year 2001. However, in the case of the presidents of the municipal chapters of the liga ng mga barangay and sangguniang kabataan in the municipalities of Bacon and Sorsogon, their respective tenures shall be modified in accordance with the provisions of this Act.

The appointive officials and employees of the municipalities of Bacon and Sorsogon shall likewise continue exercising their functions and duties and they shall be automatically absorbed by the City Government of Sorsogon: Provided, That the above officials and employees shall continue to receive the salaries they are receiving at the time of the approval of this Act until the new adjustment of salaries in accordance with law.
