Officials and Staff. - (a) The National Archives of the Philippines shall be headed by an executive director with a rank equivalent to a bureau director and who shall be assisted by two deputy executive directors who shall be responsible for archives administration and records management.
The executive director shall be appointed by the President. The incumbent director and assistant director of the Records Management and Archives Office shall continue to serve in their respective capacity as the director and assistant director of the herein established National Archives of the Philippines for one year after the effectivity of this Act or until the completion of their respective terms of office or unless such terms of office are extended by the President: Provided, That such extension shall not exceed the five-year term of office allowed under this Act.
The executive director shall have a fixed term of five years. In case of vacancy in the position of the executive director, the appointee shall serve the unexpired term of the predecessor.
(b) The National Archives of the Philippines shall maintain the existing staffing pattern provided under Executive Order No. 285 which provides that the executive director shall within a year after the enactment of this Act, recommend the reorganization and restructuring of the National Archives of he Philippines needed to carry out the provisions of this Act subject to the rules and regulations of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Civil Service Commission (CSC) .
